Roasted Fuji Apple Taquitos

A mouthwatering combination of tender roasted apples wrapped in a cinnamon-sugar tortilla, finished off with whipped cream and caramel. These Roasted Fuji Apple Taquitos have all the flavors we love from apple pie, wrapped into a single-serving dessert. It would be a fun treat for camping or enjoying out by a fire.

Homemade whipped cream is the perfect finishing touch for these tasty taquitos. And, it’s incredibly easy to make in just a few minutes! You will need 1 pint of whipping cream, 1/2 cup C & H Powdered Sugar (#1151) and Durkee Imitation Clear Vanilla Flavor (#1625). First, chill a bowl. Then, add the ingredietns and whisk until stiff peaks form. Enjoy!

Roasted Fuji Apple Taquitos

Instructions:

  1. Make a slurry by whisking the cornstarch into the cold water.
  2. Cut tortillas in half. Lay out a tortilla with the straight side facing you. Brush tortilla with a little cornstarch slurry. Place a single row of Fuji apples across the straight end of the tortilla, leaving about 1″ on either end. Roll away from you, leaving ends unfolded.
  3. Place on parchment paper (#1153)-lined cookie sheet (#4020). Repeat until all taquitos are rolled. Freeze for at least 4 hours.
  4. Whisk together the sugar and cinnamon and set aside in a large bowl.
  5. Pour enough oil in fryer or frying pan to cover 3 taquitos at a time. Heat oil to 350 F. Place 3 frozen taquitos in oil and cook 1-1 1/2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain well.
  6. Toss in the cinnamon sugar mix. Serve with caramel sauce and whipped cream.
