Peanut Butter Fudge

One of our family’s favorite holiday treats is rich, creamy fudge.  We’ve tested multiple recipes and have finally settled on a handful of tried-and-true, decadent fudge variations.   For instance, this peanut butter fudge version has quickly become one of our favorites.

First, it’s chock full of peanut butter flavor. Second, the texture is smooth and creamy, not dry and crumbly like other recipes we’ve tried. And finally, the ingredients and procedure are easy to follow, even for novice candy-makers.  If you love peanut butter treats as much as we do, we think this peanut butter fudge recipe will soon be one of your family favorites too.

How to Store Fudge

Since you’ll want to enjoy the fudge of your labors for as long as possible, proper wrapping is essential.  First, wrap each piece in parchment paper. Then place the pieces in an airtight container or zippered plastic bag. If you don’t have parchment paper on hand, you can also use plastic wrap or aluminum foil to protect the fudge and keep pieces from sticking together. Finally, store the wrapped fudge in the refrigerator or freezer.

How Long Can Fudge Be Stored

Although shelf-life can vary, most fudge recipes will keep for up to two weeks at room temperature, or several months in the freezer if properly wrapped. To extend this time frame as much as possible, keep the wrapped fudge out of direct sunlight, in an area with stable temperature.

When you’re ready to serve your fudge, remove the desired amount from your refrigerator or freezer and leave at room temperature for two hours.
