Dutch Oven Sausage and Peppers Sandwiches

Whether you’re camping or at home, you’ll love these Sausage and Pepper Sandwiches in toasted Hoagie Buns for lunch or dinner.

Dutch Oven Sausage & Pepper Sandwiches

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. First, heat oil in a Camp Chef Dutch Oven from the 6-Piece Cast Iron Set (#2405).
  2. Then, add the sausages and brown on all sides. Set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Now, add the fajita blend to the dutch oven and saute until they being to soften. Then, add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Allow the garlic to saute for a couple minutes, then add the spaghetti sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer.
  5. Next, add the sausages back to the dutch oven. Cover and cook until the sauce thickens, approximately 15-20 minutes.
  6. Then, place a slice of cheese on the bun*. Add 1 sausage link to each roll, then the pepper and onion sauce.

*If desired, broil the bun until slightly crisp. Then add the provolone and return to the oven to melt the cheese.
