Simple Homemade Butter

Mix ins:

Instructions:

  1. First, pour the two cartons of whipping cream into a bowl of a stand mixer.
  2. Start beating on a low speed, slowly increasing to high. Continue beating.
  3. After a few minutes, whipped cream will form- continue to beat. It will begin to turn yellow and separate, at this point cover the mixer with a towel. Continue to mix until the buttermilk separates from the butter fat.
  4. Now, strain the buttermilk into a mason jar to use later in recipes.
  5. Then, rinse the butter with ice cold water, replacing the water three time.
  6. If desired, add mix-ins.
  7. Form into a butter log, then wrap in parchment paper (#1153). Alternatively, store in a mason jar or another airtight container in the fridge.
