5 Products You Won’t Find in the Grocery Store, and Why You Need Them

Sometimes the difference between being a novice and an expert in the kitchen is knowing the tricks of the trade. Cooking with the same products used by chefs and commercial bakers lets you feel like an expert cook, but only requires following simple directions.   We love foodservice products because they save time and deliver consistent (and higher) quality results. Here are a few of our favorites that you won’t find in the grocery store, but you can find in our catalogs!

Turkey isn’t just for Thanksgiving!  AP customers love having this item in the freezer for easy dinners.  Tender, premium chunks of savory fully-cooked turkey thigh meat in a rich gravy.  Since this is a foodservice product, it’s made for ease and flavor!  Once thawed, it can be boiled in the bag, heated in a slow cooker, or warmed in an oven.  It’s delicious served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes or stacked on hearty slices of bread for a juicy sandwich.

2. Frozen Doughs

You can find frozen roll and biscuit dough in the grocery store, but not like ours! We don’t want to tell anyone’s secrets, but a lot of restaurants and bakeries aren’t serving made-from-scratch breads.   They’re proofing and baking the same products that we share with Alison’s Pantry customers. Our Beehive Rolls bake up tender and fluffy with homemade flavor that is so convincing, you’ll never need to admit you pulled the dough from the freezer.  We also offer airy Sweet Yeast Steakhouse Rolls that melt in your mouth, just like the ones served at a popular restaurant, and Donut Ring dough so you can enjoy donuts hot from the comfort of home.

Our Cinnamon Rolls are also larger, with better texture and flavor than those found in the grocery store. Plus they’re a bargain in our bulk case! We love homemade cinnamon rolls, but we don’t always have the time for them.  These high-quality, proof-and-bake rolls are individually frozen so you can pull just a few out of the freezer, or bake up a bunch for a church or company breakfast.  With these foodservice breads, you can craft rolls like a professional even if you don’t fancy yourself as a baker.

Use these 6 ¾” diameter dough rounds to top a pot pie, as the bottom for an individual quiche, a double crust pie, a pocket sandwich, meat pie, or a fruit turnover. They’re pre-glazed on one side so they bake up tender and flaky, with a perfect golden finish! They come frozen and paper-lined so you can remove only what you need from the case. Pair them with Soup Supreme Chicken Pot Pie Filling to craft easy freezer meals in a flash.

No matter the time of year, a comforting bowl of soup is always a welcome meal. Our Soup Supreme soups are what the pros use (and you’ve likely ordered them at a local cafe for over $4.00 per cup!)  They come as a frozen concentrate in a bag, with uncooked vegetable ingredients, so when you add water and cook them for the first time, veggies and pasta are tender, not mushy…and at bargain prices ranging between $.90 and $1.25 per cup.

For a no-fuss, no-mess dinner, place a PanSaver in your slow cooker, add a frozen Soup Supreme soup and the needed water, cover and cook on low for 4 hours. Our Blount boil-in-bag soups don’t even require the addition of water. They’re equally delicious and another easy option when you haven’t planned ahead for dinner prep.

Precooked bacon may be found in your local grocery or club store, but what makes ours special is that it’s cut fresh for our orders and also a better price per slice than you’ll find almost anywhere.  With great smokey flavor, there are plenty of reasons why this is one of our bestselling products.

“My family loves the #4835 Precooked Hickory Smoked Bacon Slices! It is by far the best price that I have found for pre-cooked bacon. I love the convenience but the best part is that it tastes great!”
