Oven Baked Baby Back Ribs

3 Mistakes to avoid when cooking ribs:
- Putting sauce on the ribs too soon. If your sauce is the star of the show, wait until 10 to 15 minutes before cooking to add it on. Plus, this leaves plenty of time for it to warm up and stick to your ribs.
- Undercooking or overcooking your ribs. Know the basic signs of when your ribs are done. The main one to look out for is when the meat starts to pull away from the bone.
- Not pre-cooking the ribs. When you precook your ribs, they become more tender. You can oven-bake, boil, or even use a slow cooker or instant pot before the real cooking begins.

Oven Baked Baby Back Ribs
Ingredients:
- 4 lbs. baby back ribs two racks, trimmed and silver skin removed (#2608)
- 1 tsp liquid smoke seasoning
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (#1150)
- 2 Tbsp chili powder (#1014)
- 2 Tbsp smoked paprika (#1697)
- 1 Tbsp salt (#1146)
- 1 tsp black pepper (#1028)
- 1 tsp onion powder (#1027)
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp ground dry mustard powder (#1428)
- 1/4 tsp cumin (#1442)
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce more or less to taste
- applewood seasoning rub (#5990)
Instructions:
- First, preheat oven to 275 degrees.
- Remove the baby back ribs from their packaging. Rinse and pat dry with paper towels. Turn the ribs bone side up and trim and remove the silver skin membrane from the ribs. Place ribs on large pieces of Foodservice Foil (#1963), large enough to wrap the ribs later.
- Next, sprinkle both sides sparingly with the liquid smoke seasoning.
- Combine the brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, mustard, allspice, cumin and cayenne in a bowl. Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the spice rub.
- Then, turn the ribs meat side down, then tightly wrap the ribs with the foil. Place the wrapped ribs on a large rimmed baking sheet.
- Bake on 275 degrees for about two and a half hours. Remove from the oven and let rest 15 minutes.
- Carefully peel back the foil. Next, brush with sauce as desired and broil for a few minutes until the sauce is sticky and bubbly. Watch carefully and do not burn.
- Serve hot with additional sauce if desired.

How do you recommend pre cooking them?

The recipe above cooks the ribs slowly in the oven, so you still get tender results without the precook. There are multiple ways to precook, though, and we liked the clear instructions at this link: https://blog.cavetools.com/exploring-cooking-methods-pre-cooking-ribs-in-the-oven/ Hope this helps!
