Can I change this recipe?
Absolutely! One simple way to change it is to use a hot dog bun instead of a lettuce leaf. Another idea is to turn it into a salad! Simply slice up the beef franks and romaine lettuce, and toss it all together.

- Splash of BBF Avocado Oil (#3516)
- 1 tsp Kirkland Minced Garlic (#1289)
- 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 cup C & H Granulated Sugar (#1632)
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar, divided
- 1/2 cup English cucumber, sliced (unpeeled)
- 12 oz Hebrew National Beef Franks (#2765)
- 7 leaves romaine lettuce
- 1/2 cup match-stick cut carrots
- Chopped cilantro, green onion, and kimchee, optional
Instructions:
- First, preheat your grill.
- Then, heat the avocado oil in a saucepan and add the ginger and garlic. Cook until fragrant, abut 30 seconds. Add the ketchup, soy sauce, 3 Tbsp sugar, and 1 Tbsp vinegar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Next, microwave the remaining sugar and vinegar for about 30 seconds. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add the cucumbers. Set aside.
- Now, grill the franks for 5-7 minutes, or until heated through.
- To assemble, first drain the cucumbers. Then, spread the homemade sauce onto the leaf, topping with 1 frank, cucumbers, and carrots. Add cilantro, green onion, and kimchee, if desired. Best if served immediately.
